Homework: Wednesday, January 24th

READ THROUGH ACT I, SCENE 1.

We have started reading The Taming of the Shrew and will continue to read it throughout this week. Please check this blog for daily information and reading assignments. Feel free to use sparknotes.com as a supplemental resource to help you understand the reading; however, do not use it as a substitute for your reading.

As you read, please annotate for the following:

SOCIAL EXPECTATIONS – you may want to consider…

What are the social expectations of the time?
What is Shakespeare saying about social expectations?
What are the consequences for following or rebelling against society’s expectations?
How necessary are social expectations?

CRITICAL PERSPECTIVES –

You have been assigned two critical perspectives from the “Critical Perspectives” yellow sheet to defend in a debate at the end of the unit. Be sure you understand what each of these perspectives mean and that you gather evidence to support each argument as you read.

Rock on with Shakespeare!!!
